Historically it is known that William Shakespeare and Damien Hirst had both lived in Shoreditch, for a while. A lot of rebuilding and planning has taken place after the area was destroyed by bombing, but many of the original warehouses remained till late in Shoreditch.
Once a stronghold for artists and musicians of the past, Shoreditch today, is popular with financiers and lawyers, and many other professionals. In the 1980s, Stirling Ackroyd played an integral part in the regeneration of the area, and you see today; newly built contemporary apartments and office blocks including a diverse range of galleries, boutiques, business properties, bars, restaurants and beautiful architecture and entertainment in Shoreditch.
