Green home improvements are relatively easy to install and will help homeowners in their quest to sell their UK Property in future, the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has said.
Surveyors who assess properties in order to produce an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) that comes as part of a Home information pack (Hip) will place a particular focus on double glazing and heating systems, the council has said.
Home information packs will be rolled out to the entire UK property market on December 14th, the government announced last month.
"I think loft insulation is a key issue, making sure that your hot water tank is lagged, making sure that your pipes are lagged so that if we do have a cold spell, you don't find that there are any broken … or burst pipes, and there's the draught proofing aspect," said NHIC technical consultant Andrew Leech.
"The surveyors who will be looking at the property after somebody decides to purchase it.
"They will be looking at whether you've got double glazing, whether you've got an efficient energy system and heating system," added Mr Leech.
